रुरोद स शिशुस्तस्य (ruroda sa śiśustasya) — that child wept, before thatthat child wept, before that·पुरो हि परमेशितुः (puro hi parameśituḥ) — supreme lord indeedsupreme lord indeed·प्राकृतात्मजवत्तत्र (prākṛtātmajavattatra) — there, just as an ordinary child wouldthere, just as an ordinary child would·भवाचाररतस्य हि (bhavācāraratasya hi) — who was devoted to worldly custom, indeedwho was devoted to worldly custom, indeed

तं बालं द्रुतमुत्थाप्य (taṃ bālaṃ drutamutthāpya) — quickly lifting up that childquickly lifting up that child·क्रोडायां निदधे वरम् (kroḍāyāṃ nidadhe varam) — she placed the excellent one on her lapshe placed the excellent one on her lap·स्तन्यं सापाययत्प्रीत्या (stanyaṃ sāpāyayatprītyā) — lovingly gave him to drink milklovingly gave him to drink milk·दुग्धं चोपरिसम्भवम् (dugdhaṃ coparisambhavam) — milk that had arisen at her breastmilk that had arisen at her breast

धन्या त्वं धरणि प्रीत्या (dhanyā tvaṃ dharaṇi prītyā) — blessed are you, O Earth; with loveblessed are you, O Earth; with love·पालयैतं सुतं मम (pālayaitaṃ sutaṃ mama) — rear this son of minerear this son of mine·त्वय्युद्भूतं श्रमजलान् (tvayyudbhūtaṃ śramajalān) — who has arisen in you from a drop of exertionwho has arisen in you from a drop of exertion·महातेजस्विनो वरम् (mahātejasvino varam) — an excellent one of great splendouran excellent one of great splendour

मम श्रमकभूर्बालो (mama śramakabhūrbālo) — this child, born of my exertionthis child, born of my exertion·यद्यपि प्रियकृत्क्षिते (yadyapi priyakṛtkṣite) — though he is dear, O Earththough he is dear, O Earth·त्वन्नाम्ना स्याद्भवेत्ख्यातः (tvannāmnā syādbhavetkhyātaḥ) — shall become renowned by your nameshall become renowned by your name·त्रितापरहितः सदा (tritāparahitaḥ sadā) — and shall ever be free from the three afflictionsand shall ever be free from the three afflictions

असौ बालः कुदाता हि (asau bālaḥ kudātā hi) — this child, indeed a giver of landthis child, indeed a giver of land·भविष्यति गुणी तव (bhaviṣyati guṇī tava) — virtuous, shall belong to youvirtuous, shall belong to you·ममापि सुखदाता हि (mamāpi sukhadātā hi) — a giver of happiness to me too, indeeda giver of happiness to me too, indeed·गृहाणैनं यथारुचि (gṛhāṇainaṃ yathāruci) — take him according to your likingtake him according to your liking
