तस्मिन् अवसरे देवाः (tasmin avasare devāḥ) — at that time, the godsat that time, the gods·स्वार्थम् आचिन्त्य कृत्स्नशः (svārtham ācintya kṛtsnaśaḥ) — having considered their own interest fullyhaving considered their own interest fully·ऊचुः पितॄन् समागत्य (ūcuḥ pitṝn samāgatya) — spoke, having come to the pitṛsspoke, having come to the pitṛs·दिव्यान् प्रीत्या मुनीश्वर (divyān prītyā munīśvara) — to the divine ones, with love, O lord of sagesto the divine ones, with love, O lord of sages

सर्वे शृणुत नः वाक्यं (sarve śṛṇuta naḥ vākyaṃ) — listen, all of you, to our wordlisten, all of you, to our word·पितरः प्रीतमानसाः (pitaraḥ prītamānasāḥ) — O pitṛs, with contented mindsO pitṛs, with contented minds·कर्तव्यं तत् तथा एव आशु (kartavyaṃ tat tathā eva āśu) — that should be done thus, at oncethat should be done thus, at once·देवकार्येप्सवः यदि (devakāryepsavaḥ yadi) — if you desire the gods' purposeif you desire the gods' purpose

एवं सर्वमहालाभः (evaṃ sarvamahālābhaḥ) — thus great benefit for allthus great benefit for all·सर्वेषां च भविष्यति (sarveṣāṃ ca bhaviṣyati) — will be for everyonewill be for everyone·युष्माकम् अमराणां च (yuṣmākam amarāṇāṃ ca) — and for you, the immortalsand for you, the immortals·दुःखहानिः पदे पदे (duḥkhahāniḥ pade pade) — removal of sorrow at every stepremoval of sorrow at every step

इति आकर्ण्य अमरवचः (iti ākarṇya amaravacaḥ) — hearing this speech of the immortalshearing this speech of the immortals·पितरः ते विमृश्य च (pitaraḥ te vimṛśya ca) — the pitṛs, having ponderedthe pitṛs, having pondered·स्मृत्वा शापं सुतानां च (smṛtvā śāpaṃ sutānāṃ ca) — and remembering the curse of their daughtersand remembering the curse of their daughters·प्रोचुः ॐ इति तद्वचः (procuḥ oṃ iti tadvacaḥ) — said "so be it," that replysaid "so be it," that reply

महामोदान्विताः देवाः (mahāmodānvitāḥ devāḥ) — the gods, filled with great delightthe gods, filled with great delight·ते सर्वे समुनीश्वराः (te sarve samunīśvarāḥ) — all of them, together with the great sagesall of them, together with the great sages·संजग्मुः स्वस्वधामानि (saṃjagmuḥ svasvadhāmāni) — went each to his own abodewent each to his own abode·संस्मरन्तः शिवाशिवौ (saṃsmarantaḥ śivāśivau) — remembering Śivā and Śivaremembering Śivā and Śiva
