Continuing his narration to Nārada, Brahmā describes how, after the wedding rite itself had been completed, he and the sages performed the remaining ceremonies at Śiva's command: the anointing of the couple's heads, the showing of the pole-star Dhruva, the touching of the heart, and the recitation of blessings. At the brāhmaṇas' bidding Śambhu applied vermilion to Śivā's hair, and she, now called Girijā, shone with indescribable beauty; seated together on one seat, the divine pair filled every devotee's heart with joy. Returning to their places, they joyfully drank the saṃsrava; and when the wedding rite was thus duly concluded, Śiva gave Brahmā the pūrṇapātra, and duly bestowed the gift of a cow and other great and auspicious gifts upon the officiating priest, besides gold, jewels and manifold goods upon the brāhmaṇas, to universal rejoicing and festive sound. Hari, Brahmā, the gods and the sages then took leave of Himavān and swiftly departed; and in the mountain-city the joyful women led Śivā and Śiva to the nuptial chamber, performing the customary folk-rites amid great festivity, and afterward brought the couple to the house with more auspicious rites and the untying of the marriage-knot, their bodies thrilling with delight. As Śiva and Pārvatī entered the bedchamber, the assembled women there were enraptured at the sight of the beautiful, youthful, richly adorned lord; and sixteen divine women — Sarasvatī, Lakṣmī, Sāvitrī, Jāhnavī, Aditi, Śacī, Lopāmudrā, Arundhatī, Ahalyā, Tulasī, Svāhā, Rohiṇī, Vasundharā, Śatarūpā, Saṃjñā and Rati — together with countless daughters of gods, nāgas and sages, came to behold them. Seated on a jewelled throne offered by them, Śiva listened as, one after another, with sweet and laughing words, the goddesses playfully urged him: Sarasvatī bade him set aside his sorrow and pass his time in Satī's embrace, promising he would never again know separation; Lakṣmī urged him to cast off shame and hold her to his breast; Sāvitrī told him to eat and offer Satī betel with camphor; Jāhnavī bade him arrange her golden hair, the greatest good fortune a wife can receive; Aditi asked him to give Śivā water for rinsing her mouth after the meal, since the love between husband and wife is rare; Śacī chided him gently for having once wandered in grief for her sake, asking what shame he now had toward his own beloved; Lopāmudrā reminded him it was customary for a wife to be led to bed after eating, and urged him to give Śivā betel and retire; Arundhatī recounted how she herself had persuaded a reluctant Menā to give her daughter, and urged him to cherish her; Ahalyā asked him to abandon his aged appearance and become wholly youthful, so as to fully win Menā's approval; Tulasī pointedly asked, given his earlier abandonment of Satī and burning of Kāma, why he had now sent Vasiṣṭha to seek Pārvatī's hand; Svāhā counselled him to bear patiently with the women's bold teasing, since such boldness is customary at weddings; Rohiṇī, addressing him as an expert in the science of love, urged him to fulfil Pārvatī's desire and cross the ocean of her longing; and Vasundharā observed that, knower of women's hearts that he was, a devoted wife guards nothing of her own so much as the ceaseless service of her husband as her lord. Śatarūpā added that, as a starving man is not satisfied without proper enjoyment, Śiva should do whatever would satisfy his bride; and Sañjñā urged that a lamp, betel and a bed be quickly prepared in a secluded place, and that Śiva be sent to Pārvatī without delay. Hearing all this, Śiva, the changeless lord who is guru even to the greatest of yogins, gently rebuked the goddesses, reminding them that they were the chaste mothers of the universe and asking how such playfulness toward a son was fitting; abashed at his words, the goddesses fell silent at once, like painted dolls struck still with embarrassment. At length Maheśa, having eaten the sweet food and rinsed his mouth, joyfully partook of betel and camphor together with his newly wedded wife.

Noteसंस्रव refers to the residual ghee, offered in each oblation, that is poured into a water-filled vessel (prokṣaṇī-pātra) during the fire-rite and finally drunk by the officiant — a ritual detail explained in a footnote on this page of the source edition.

tadānīṃ divyanāryaśca ṣoḍaśāraṃ samāyayuḥ | tau dampatī ca sandraṣṭuṃ mahādarapurassaram 21 ||
Doubtful readingThe printed reading षोडशारं (accusative singular) does not grammatically agree with the plural feminine subject नार्यः; it is evidently used adverbially in the sense "sixteenfold, as a band of sixteen." Kept verbatim; the parallel Hindi commentary ("सोलह दिव्य नारियाँ...पहुँच गयीं") confirms the intended sense that sixteen goddesses arrived.
Then sixteen divine women came, with the greatest reverence, to behold that couple.

"Menā was at first unwilling to give this Satī to you; it was I who persuaded her in various ways — you ought now to show great affection to her."
NoteThe syntax मया दत्तां...बोधयित्वा is compressed/elliptical in the received text; the translation follows the sense confirmed by the parallel Hindi commentary, that Arundhatī herself persuaded a reluctant Menā to give her daughter.

"O knower of hearts, you understand the feelings of women tormented by desire; save for ceaselessly serving her own husband as her lord, O Śambhu, a woman guards nothing else as truly her own."
Noteन च स्वं स्वामिनं...पाति is compressed in the received text; rendered per the parallel Hindi commentary, which reads it as saying a devoted wife ceaselessly serves her husband as her one true lord and cares to guard nothing else as her own.
