Brahmā continues his narration to Nārada: the mountain Krauñca, afflicted and tormented by the fleeing, wounded Bāṇa (who could not withstand Kumāra's power), came to Kumāra for refuge and praised him, begging protection; Skanda, pleased, took up his own peerless Śakti, remembered Śiva in his mind, and hurled it at Bāṇa, reducing him and his army to ashes in an instant before the Śakti returned to him. Kumāra then sent the joyful Krauñca home, and in celebration established, with due rite, three sin-destroying liṅgas of Maheśa there — named Pratijñeśvara, Kapāleśvara, and Kumāreśvara — and, near the pillar of victory, a further liṅga named Stambheśvara; all the gods, led by Viṣṇu, likewise joyfully established a liṅga of the trident-bearing God of gods, and the wondrous glory of all these liṅgas became a source of all boons and liberation for the devoted. As the pleased gods, with Viṣṇu at their head, prepared to set out for the mountain with Guha at the fore, Kumuda, the great son of the serpent-lord Śeṣa, afflicted by the asura Pralamba — a follower of Tāraka who had earlier fled the same battle and now wrought havoc there — came likewise to Kumāra's refuge and praised him, calling him the friend of the wretched, the ocean of compassion, and the resort of the virtuous, and begging him to destroy Pralamba. Thus entreated, Kumāra, remembering Śiva's lotus feet, took up his Śakti once more and hurled it at Pralamba; with a great sound and a blazing of the sky and the directions, it swiftly reduced Pralamba and his army to ashes and returned to Guha. Kumāra then sent the young nāga Kumuda home rejoicing, and Brahmā concludes by declaring this account of Kumāra's victory and Tāraka's slaying to be wondrous, sin-removing, and the granter of every desire, fame, long life, enjoyment, and liberation to all who recite or hear it with faith and devotion.
