Chapter 95·Bhuśuṇḍi begins his own story·Verses 1–
Hearing Garuḍa's words, the crow was glad and spoke with deep love: blessed, blessed is your mind, and I love your question very much. Hearing your loving question, the memory of many births came to me; I shall tell my whole story, listen with attention. Prayer, austerity, sacrifice, calm, restraint, vows, gifts, dispassion, discernment, yoga and realisation: the fruit of all of them is love for Raghupati's feet, and without it no one finds peace. In this body I found devotion to Rāma, so I have more fondness for it. One has fondness for what gives one some benefit. The sorathas say that the wise teach, in line with the Veda, that one should love even something very low if it is for one's own best good; the silkworm gives silk, from which fine cloth is made, and everyone keeps a worm that is utterly unclean, as dear as life.
