भक्त सबसे प्रिय
Rāma says: now hear my words, pure, true, easy, and told in the Vedas. I tell you my own conclusion: hear it, set it in your mind, give up all else and worship me. The world is born of my Māyā, with creatures of many kinds, moving and unmoving; all are dear to me, all are made by me, but men please me most. Among them dearer are the twice-born; among them, the Veda-bearers; among them, those who follow the Veda's dharma; dearer than they are the unattached and then the wise, and dearer than the wise those with realisation. Dearer than all are my own servants, who have no other hope than me. Again and again I tell you truly: nobody is as dear to me as a servant. Even a Brahmā without devotion is no more dear than any creature; but a devoted man, however low, is dear to me as my life. A clean, good-natured, wise servant is dear to everyone, so this is the Veda's rule: listen with care, crow.राम कहते हैं: अब मेरी अत्यन्त निर्मल, सत्य, सरल वाणी सुनो, जिसे वेद आदि ने कहा है। मैं तुम्हें अपना सिद्धांत सुनाता हूँ; सुनो, मन में धरो, और सब छोड़कर मुझे भजो। यह संसार मेरी माया से उत्पन्न है, नाना प्रकार के चर-अचर जीव हैं; सब मुझे प्रिय हैं, सब मेरे उपजाए हैं, पर सबसे अधिक मनुष्य मुझे भाते हैं। उनमें द्विज प्रिय हैं, द्विजों में वेदधारी, उनमें वेद के धर्म पर चलने वाले; उनसे प्रिय विरक्त और फिर ज्ञानी, और ज्ञानी से भी अधिक प्रिय विज्ञानी। उन सबसे मुझे अपने दास प्रिय हैं, जिनकी मेरे सिवा दूसरी गति या आशा नहीं। मैं बार-बार सत्य कहता हूँ कि मुझे सेवक के समान कोई प्रिय नहीं। भक्ति से हीन ब्रह्मा भी मुझे अन्य जीवों के बराबर प्रिय है; पर भक्तिमान अति नीच प्राणी भी मुझे प्राण-प्रिय है, ऐसी मेरी वाणी है। पवित्र, सुशील, सुमति सेवक किसे प्रिय नहीं लगता? हे काग, श्रुति और पुराण यही नीति कहते हैं, सावधान होकर सुनो।

२2मम माया संभव संसारा। जीव चराचर बिबिधि प्रकारा ॥सब मम प्रिय सब मम उपजाए। सब ते अधिक मनुज मोहि भाए ॥

यह संसार मेरी माया से उत्पन्न है, इसमें अनेक प्रकार के चर-अचर जीव हैं। सब मुझे प्रिय हैं, सब मेरे उपजाए हुए हैं, पर सबसे अधिक मनुष्य मुझे भाते हैं।

उनमें द्विज प्रिय हैं, द्विजों में वेदधारी, और उनमें वेद के धर्म पर चलने वाले। उनसे प्रिय विरक्त हैं, फिर ज्ञानी, और ज्ञानी से भी अधिक प्रिय विज्ञानी।
Among them the twice-born are dear, and among the twice-born the bearers of the Veda, and among them those who follow the Veda's dharma. Dearer than they are the unattached, then the wise, and dearer than the wise are those with realisation.

ब्रह्मा भी भक्ति से हीन क्यों न हो, वह मुझे और जीवों के समान ही प्रिय है। पर भक्तिमान अति नीच प्राणी भी मुझे प्राण-प्रिय है; ऐसी मेरी वाणी है।
Why should Brahmā not be without devotion? To me he is as dear as any creature. But a man with devotion, even the lowest, is dear to me as my life; so is my word.
