अविरल भक्ति का वर
Rāma goes on offering knowledge, discernment, dispassion and realisation, and all the rare virtues of the world, which he will give today without doubt. Hearing this, Bhuśuṇḍi felt more love and began to think. The Lord said he would give all happiness, but did not say he would give his own devotion. Virtues and joys without devotion are like many dishes without salt; what use is happiness without worship? So he spoke to the king of birds: Lord, if you are pleased and grant a boon, show me kindness and love. Generous Lord, knower of every heart, I ask the boon that pleases my mind: the unbroken, pure devotion to you that the Vedas and Purāṇas sing, which yogis and sages seek and some find by your grace. Tree of wishes for devotees, ocean of mercy, home of joy, give me your own devotion, Rāma, by your kindness.राम आगे कहते हैं कि ज्ञान, विवेक, वैराग्य, विज्ञान और जगत के जो दुर्लभ गुण मुनियों को भी नहीं मिलते, वे सब आज निस्संदेह देंगे; जो मन में भाए वह माँगो। प्रभु के वचन सुनकर भुशुंडि का अनुराग बढ़ा और मन में विचार करने लगे। प्रभु ने कहा कि सब सुख देंगे, पर अपनी भक्ति देने की बात नहीं कही। भक्ति के बिना गुण और सब सुख ऐसे हैं जैसे नमक के बिना बहुत व्यंजन; भजन के बिना सुख किस काम का? ऐसा विचार करके वे बोले: प्रभु, यदि प्रसन्न होकर वर देते हैं तो मुझ पर कृपा और स्नेह कीजिए। हे उदार स्वामी, अन्तर्यामी, मैं मन भावता वर माँगता हूँ: आपकी वह अटूट, शुद्ध भक्ति जिसे श्रुति और पुराण गाते हैं, जिसे योगी और मुनि खोजते हैं और कोई प्रभु की कृपा से पाता है। भक्तों के कल्पवृक्ष, शरणागत के हितकारी, कृपा के सागर, सुख के धाम राम, दया करके मुझे वही अपनी भक्ति दीजिए।

ज्ञान, विवेक, वैराग्य, विज्ञान, और जगत के सब वे गुण जो मुनियों को भी दुर्लभ हैं: आज मैं सब दूँगा, इसमें संदेह नहीं। जो तुम्हारे मन को भाए, माँगो।
Knowledge, discernment, dispassion, realisation, all the virtues in the world that are rare even to sages: today I give them all, with no doubt. Ask whatever pleases your mind.

प्रभु के वचन सुनकर मेरा प्रेम बढ़ा और मैं मन में अनुमान करने लगा। प्रभु ने सब सुख देने को कहा, पर अपनी भक्ति देने को नहीं कहा।
Hearing the Lord's words, my love grew, and I began to think in my mind. The Lord has said he will give all happiness, but he has not said he will give me his own devotion.

Lord, if you are pleased and will give a boon, be kind to me and show me love. Master, I ask the boon that pleases my heart; you are generous and know every heart.
