Chapter 80 · The universes inside the Lord · Verses 1–

Bhuśuṇḍi closed his eyes in fear, and when he looked again he was in Ayodhyā. Rāma smiled, and he went into the Lord's mouth at once. Inside the belly, he saw whole hosts of universes. They were wonderful, with many worlds, one more grand than another. He saw millions of Brahmās and Śivas, countless stars, suns and moons, countless guardians of the worlds, deaths and times, countless mountains and great lands, oceans, rivers, lakes and forests, and every kind of creation spread out, with gods, sages, siddhas, serpents, men and kinnaras, and the four kinds of creature, moving and unmoving. What he had not seen or heard, what the mind cannot hold, he saw, and cannot say how. He stayed a hundred years in each universe in turn, and so wandered through many shells of the egg.

When I was frightened I shut my eyes. Then, opening them, I saw I had gone to the city of Kosala. Seeing me, Rāma smiled, and at once, as he laughed, I went into his mouth.
