Chapter 61 · Śiva sends Garuda to hear the story · Verses 1–

Garuda bowed at Śiva's feet with respect and told his doubt. Hearing his humble prayer, Śiva says with love: Garuda, you met me on the road, how can I explain it to you? All doubt breaks only when one has long kept the company of the good. There he should hear the lovely stories of Hari that the sages have sung in many ways, whose beginning, middle and end all teach Rāma, the Lord. Wherever Hari's story is told every day, I will send you there to hear. As you go, all your doubts will end and your love for Rāma's feet will grow. The dohā says that without good company there is no Hari-story; without it, no end of delusion; and without the end of delusion, firm love for Rāma's feet cannot come.
