Śiva says he will tell how he heard the story which frees from the world, and tells Pārvatī, in her earlier birth. In the first birth, in Dakṣa's house, her name was Satī. At Dakṣa's sacrifice she was insulted, and in anger she gave up her life. Śiva's attendants broke the sacrifice, and she knows it all. Then Śiva was very sad and grieved at the parting from his beloved. He wandered, detached, seeing lovely forests, hills, rivers and ponds. North of Mount Meru, far off, was a lovely blue mountain with four golden peaks which pleased his mind. On each stood a great tree: a banyan, a fig, a pākar and a mango. On top was a lovely lake, with jewelled steps that charmed the mind. Its water was cool, clean and sweet with lotuses of many colours; geese called sweetly and bees hummed.शिव कहते हैं: हे सुमुखि, सुलोचनि, मैंने जैसे यह भव-मोचनी कथा सुनी, वह प्रसंग सुनो। पहले दक्ष के घर तुम्हारा अवतार हुआ था और तुम्हारा नाम सती था। तब दक्ष के यज्ञ में अपमान हुआ और तुमने बहुत क्रोध में प्राण छोड़ दिए। मेरे गणों ने यज्ञ भंग किया, वह सब प्रसंग तुम जानती हो। तब मेरे मन में बहुत सोच हुआ और तुम्हारे वियोग से मैं दुखी हुआ। मैं वैराग्य में सुन्दर वन, पर्वत, नदी और तालाब कौतुक से देखता फिरता था। सुमेरु पर्वत से उत्तर दिशा में दूर एक सुन्दर, विशाल नील पर्वत है। उसके सुहावने सोने के शिखर चार हैं जो मेरे मन को भाए। उन पर एक-एक विशाल वृक्ष है: बरगद, पीपल, पाकर और आम। पर्वत के ऊपर एक सुन्दर सरोवर शोभित है, जिसकी मणियों की सीढ़ियाँ देखकर मन मोहित हो जाता है। दोहे में उसके शीतल, निर्मल, मधुर जल, अनेक रंगों के कमल, मधुर कूजते हंसों और गुंजार करते भौंरों का वर्णन है।

तब दक्ष के यज्ञ में अपमान हुआ और तुमने बहुत क्रोध में प्राण त्याग दिए। मेरे गणों ने यज्ञ भंग किया; वह सब प्रसंग तुम जानती हो।
Then came the insult at Dakṣa's sacrifice, and in great anger you gave up your life. My followers broke the sacrifice; you know the whole story.

३3तब अति सोच भयउ मन मोरें। दुखी भयउँ बियोग प्रिय तोरें ॥सुंदर बन गिरि सरित तड़ागा। कौतुक देखत फिरउँ बेरागा ॥

तब मेरे मन में बहुत सोच हुआ और तुम्हारे वियोग में मैं दुखी हुआ। वैराग्य में मैं सुन्दर वन, पर्वत, नदियाँ और तालाब कौतुक से देखता घूमता था।
Then I was very troubled in my mind and grieved at the parting from you, my beloved. Detached, I wandered, looking in wonder at lovely forests, hills, rivers and ponds.

४4गिरि सुमेर उत्तर दिसि दूरी। नील सैल एक सुन्दर भूरी ॥तासु कनकमय सिखर सुहाए। चारि चारु मोरे मन भाए ॥

सुमेरु पर्वत से उत्तर दिशा में दूर एक बहुत विशाल, सुन्दर नील पर्वत है। उसके सुहावने सोने के चार शिखर मेरे मन को भाए।
Far off to the north of Mount Meru is a lovely blue mountain, very large. Its lovely peaks of gold are four, and they pleased my mind.

५5तिन्ह पर एक एक बिटप बिसाला। बट पीपर पाकरी रसाला ॥सैलोपरि सर सुंदर सोहा। मनि सोपान देखि मन मोहा ॥

उन पर एक-एक विशाल वृक्ष है: बरगद, पीपल, पाकर और आम। पर्वत के ऊपर एक सुन्दर सरोवर शोभित है; उसकी मणियों की सीढ़ियाँ देखकर मन मोहित हो गया।
On each of them stands a huge tree: a banyan, a peepul, a pākar, and a mango. On top of the hill a lovely lake shone, and the jewelled steps charmed my mind.

दोहा ५६दोहा 56सीतल अमल मधुर जल जलज बिपुल बहुरंग।कूजत कल रव हंस गन गुंजत मजुंल भृंग ॥ ५६ ॥

जल शीतल, निर्मल और मधुर था, उसमें अनेक रंगों के बहुत कमल थे; हंसों के समूह मधुर स्वर में कूजते और भौंरे सुन्दर गुंजार करते थे।
Cool, clean and sweet was the water, with lotuses of many colours; geese called in sweet notes and bees hummed lovely tunes.
