Chapter 42·Nārada carries the news of Rāma·Verses 1–दोहा 42
चरित पुनीत राम
Hearing the Lord's own words, all the brothers are glad and love overflows. They pray to him many times, and Hanumān's joy is without measure. Raghupati then goes to his own house, where he does new things every day. Nārada comes again and again and sings Rāma's holy deeds. He sees something new each time and tells it in Brahmā's world. Brahmā is very glad to hear it and says, 'Dear one, sing these virtues again and again.' Sanaka and the others praise Nārada, though they are sages given to Brahman. Hearing the song they forget their meditation, and listen with respect, the best of listeners. The dohā says that those who, though free in life and one with Brahman, hear his deeds leaving meditation, have a heart of stone if they take no joy in Hari's story.प्रभु के श्रीमुख के वचन सुनकर सब भाई प्रसन्न हुए, हृदय में प्रेम समाता नहीं था। वे बार-बार बहुत विनती करते हैं और हनुमान के हृदय में अपार हर्ष है। फिर रघुपति अपने भवन चले गए, और इस प्रकार नित नए चरित करते हैं। नारद मुनि बार-बार आते हैं और राम के पवित्र चरित गाते हैं। वे नित नए चरित देखकर जाते हैं और ब्रह्मलोक में सब कथा कहते हैं। ब्रह्मा सुनकर बहुत सुख मानते हैं और कहते हैं, 'हे तात, बार-बार गुण-गान करो।' सनकादि नारद की सराहना करते हैं, यद्यपि वे ब्रह्म में लीन मुनि हैं। गुणगान सुनकर वे समाधि भूल जाते हैं और परम अधिकारी होकर आदर से सुनते हैं। दोहे में कहा गया है कि जीवन्मुक्त और ब्रह्म में स्थित पुरुष भी ध्यान छोड़कर राम का चरित सुनते हैं; जो हरिकथा में प्रेम नहीं करते उनके हृदय पत्थर हैं।

प्रभु के श्रीमुख के वचन सुनकर सब भाई प्रसन्न हुए, प्रेम हृदय में समाता नहीं था। वे बार-बार बहुत विनती करते थे और हनुमान के हृदय में अपार हर्ष था।
Hearing the Lord's words, all the brothers were glad, and love could not be held in their hearts. They prayed to him again and again, and Hanumān's joy was without end.

२2पुनि रघुपति निज मंदिर गए। एहि बिधि चरित करत नित नए ॥बार बार नारद मुनि आवहिं। चरित पुनीत राम के गावहिं ॥

मुनि नित नया चरित देखकर जाते थे और ब्रह्मलोक में सब कथा कहते थे। सुनकर ब्रह्मा बहुत सुख मानते थे और कहते थे, 'हे तात, बार-बार गुण-गान करो।'
The sage went away each time having seen something new, and told it all in Brahmā's world. Hearing it Brahmā was very glad. 'Dear one, sing these virtues again and again.'

४4सनकादिक नारदहि सराहहिं। जद्यपि ब्रह्म निरत मुनि आहहिं ॥सुनि गुन गान समाधि बिसारी । सादर सुनहिं परम अधिकारी ॥

सनकादि नारद की सराहना करते थे, यद्यपि वे ब्रह्म में लीन मुनि हैं। गुणगान सुनकर वे समाधि भूल जाते थे और परम अधिकारी होकर आदर से सुनते थे।
Sanaka and the others praised Nārada, though they are sages who dwell in Brahman. Hearing the song of virtues they forgot their meditation and listened with respect, the best of listeners.

दोहा ४२दोहा 42जीवनमुक्त ब्रह्मपर चरित सुनहिं तजि ध्यान।जे हरि कथाँ न करहिं रति तिन्ह के हिय पाषान ॥ ४२ ॥

जीवन्मुक्त और ब्रह्म में स्थित पुरुष भी ध्यान छोड़कर राम का चरित सुनते हैं। जो हरिकथा में प्रेम नहीं करते, उनके हृदय पत्थर हैं।
Even those freed while living, and set on Brahman, leave their meditation to hear his deeds. Those who take no joy in Hari's story have hearts like stone.
