Chapter 40·More signs of the wicked·Verses 1–
Rāma goes on. The wicked have only greed for covering and bedding, and think only of belly and groin, with no fear of Yama's city. Hearing another's praise they gasp as with a fever; seeing another's trouble they feel like kings. They are given to self-interest and quarrel with their family, lustful, greedy and angry. They do not respect mother, father, guru or brahmin; they are ruined and ruin others. In delusion they harm others, and the company of saints and the story of Hari do not please them. They are an ocean of faults, dull-witted, lustful, slanderers of the Vedas, takers of others' wealth. They hate brahmins most, and hold deceit and pride in their hearts under a fair dress. The dohā says such low and wicked men were not there in the Kṛta or Tretā ages; a few in the Dvāpara, but in the Kali age they will be many.

Greed is their cover and greed their bed. They think only of belly and groin, with no fear of Yama's city. If they hear another's praise, they gasp as if a cold fever had come on.
