Chapter 28·Gardens, markets and the river·Verses 1–
Everyone has planted flower gardens with great care, with lovely creepers that flower always as in spring. Bees hum and the three kinds of wind blow. Children keep birds that speak sweetly and fly. Peacocks, swans, cranes and doves sit on the roofs and see their own reflections and dance. Parrots and mynas are taught by children to say 'Say Rāma, Raghupati, protector of men.' The royal gate, streets and markets are lovely. In the market the goods are beyond telling; the traders sit like many Kuberas, and all men, women, children and old are happy and well behaved. Dohā: the Sarayū flows north with clear deep water, and its banks are built up with lovely ghats and have little mud.

The lovely bazaar cannot be told, where goods can be had without money. Where the king is the home of Ramā, how can the wealth be sung? Traders, bankers and merchants sit like many Kuberas, and all the men, women, children and old are happy, of good conduct and beautiful.
