Chapter 128·Who may hear this story·Verses 1–
Śiva says: I have told the story according to my understanding, though I first kept it hidden. Seeing your great love, I told you Raghupati's story. It must not be told to the stubborn and proud, who do not listen to Hari's sports with their minds. Do not tell it to the greedy, the angry, the lustful, and those who do not worship the lord of the moving and unmoving. Never tell it to those who hurt brahmins, even if he is like Indra the king. Those fit for Rāma's story are those who love the company of saints, who love the teacher's feet and delight in right conduct; and the twice-born servant. To one who holds Raghuvīra dear as life, it is specially joyful. In the dohā: whoever wants love for Rāma's feet or the state of freedom, let him with feeling drink this story through the cup of the ear.
