कथा सुनने का फल
Śiva says: I have told this most holy tale, hearing which the bonds of the world are cut and love for Rāma's lotus feet, the wishing tree for those who bow to him, a heap of mercy, is born. Those who listen to it with ear and mind, their sins of mind, word and deed go. The pilgrimages, the many means, yoga, dispassion, skill in knowledge; the many works, dharmas, vows, gifts, restraint, self-control, prayer, austerity, sacrifices; kindness to creatures, service to the twice-born and the teacher, learning, humility and the greatness of discernment: of all the means the Vedas tell, the fruit is devotion to Hari, Bhavānī. That devotion to Raghunātha the Śruti sings, and by Rāma's grace someone rarely gets it. The dohā: devotion, hard even for sages, is got by men without trouble, who listen to this story continually, with trust.शिव कहते हैं: मैंने यह परम पवित्र इतिहास कहा, जिसे कान से सुनते ही भव के बंधन छूट जाते हैं और शरणागतों के कल्पवृक्ष, करुणा के पुंज राम के चरण-कमलों में प्रीति उपजती है। जो इस कथा को कान और मन लगाकर सुनते हैं, उनके मन, कर्म और वचन से किए पाप चले जाते हैं। तीर्थ-यात्रा आदि साधन, योग, वैराग्य, ज्ञान की निपुणता; अनेक कर्म, धर्म, व्रत, दान, संयम, दम, जप, तप, यज्ञ; प्राणियों पर दया, ब्राह्मण और गुरु की सेवा, विद्या, विनय और विवेक की बड़ाई: जहाँ तक वेदों ने साधन बताए हैं, भवानी, उन सबका फल हरि-भक्ति है। वह रघुनाथ की भक्ति श्रुति ने गाई है, और राम की कृपा से कोई एक उसे पाता है। दोहा: जो इस कथा को निरंतर विश्वास मानकर सुनते हैं, वे बिना प्रयास मुनियों को भी दुर्लभ हरि-भक्ति पा जाते हैं।

२2मन क्रम बचन जनित अघ जाई। सुनहिं जे कथा श्रवन मन लाई ॥तीर्थाटन साधन समुदाई। जोग बिराग ग्यान निपुनाई ॥

अनेक प्रकार के कर्म, धर्म, व्रत और दान, संयम, दम, जप, तप, अनेक यज्ञ, प्राणियों पर दया, ब्राह्मण और गुरु की सेवा, विद्या, विनय और विवेक की बड़ाई:

४4जहँ लगि साधन बेद बखानी। सब कर फल हरि भगति भवानी ॥सो रघुनाथ भगति श्रुति गाई। राम कृपाँ काहूँ एक पाई ॥
jaham̐ lagi sādhana beda bakhānī saba kara phala hari bhagati bhavānī |so raghunātha bhagati śruti gāī rāma kṛpām̐ kāhūm̐ eka pāī ||

जहाँ तक वेदों ने साधन कहे हैं, हे भवानी, उन सबका फल हरि-भक्ति है। उस रघुनाथ की भक्ति को श्रुति ने गाया है, और राम की कृपा से कोई एक उसे पाता है।
as far as the means the Vedas tell, Bhavānī, the fruit of all is devotion to Hari. That devotion to Raghunātha the Śruti sings, and by Rāma's grace someone rarely gets it.
