रहनि हमारी
Vibhīṣaṇa says he lives among the demons like the tongue among the teeth. He hopes Rāma, the lord of the sun's line, will one day see him as helpless and be kind. His body is of dark nature and he has no practice or love for Rāma's feet in his mind. But now he trusts, because the saints are not met without Hari's grace. Hanumān says Rāma's favour is shown in this: that Hanumān came to him unasked. Hanumān speaks of his own low birth as a restless monkey, so poor in family that anyone who says his name in the morning goes without food that day. Yet Rāma was kind to him, remembering his virtues, and tears filled his eyes.विभीषण कहते हैं कि मेरी रहनि वैसी है जैसे बत्तीस दाँतों के बीच बेचारी जीभ। वे आशा करते हैं कि सूर्यवंश के स्वामी राम कभी मुझे अनाथ जानकर कृपा करेंगे। उनका शरीर तामसी है, कोई साधन नहीं है और मन में राम के चरण-कमलों के लिए प्रीति नहीं है। फिर भी अब उन्हें भरोसा हो गया है, क्योंकि हरि की कृपा के बिना सन्त नहीं मिलते। हनुमान कहते हैं कि राम ने कृपा की है, तभी आपने मुझे आग्रह करके दर्शन दिए। फिर वे अपनी बात कहते हैं: मैं कौन-सा उच्च कुल का हूँ? मैं तो चंचल बन्दर हूँ और हर तरह से हीन हूँ। जो सुबह मेरा नाम ले ले, उस दिन उसे खाना नहीं मिलता। फिर भी रघुवीर ने मुझ पर कृपा की, और यह कहते-कहते उनकी आँखें गुणों को याद करके भर आईं।

'हे पवनपुत्र, मेरी रहनि सुनो। मैं ऐसे रहता हूँ जैसे दाँतों के बीच बेचारी जीभ। प्रिय, मुझे लगता है कि सूर्यकुल के स्वामी कभी मुझे अनाथ जानकर कृपा करेंगे।
'Listen, son of the Wind, to how I live. I am like the poor tongue among the teeth. Dear friend, I think Rāma, lord of the sun's line, will one day see me as helpless and show me kindness.

२2तामस तनु कछु साधन नाहीं। प्रीति न पद सरोज मन माहीं ॥अब मोहि भा भरोस हनुमंता। बिनु हरिकृपा मिलहिं नहिं संता ॥

'यदि रघुवीर ने कृपा की है, तभी तो आपने हठ करके मुझे दर्शन दिए। सुनो विभीषण, प्रभु की यही रीति है कि वे अपने सेवक पर सदा प्रेम करते हैं।
'If Raghubīra has been kind, that is why you came and gave me your presence by your own insistence. Listen, Vibhīṣaṇa, this is the Lord's way: he always loves his servant.

४4कहहु कवन मैं परम कुलीना। कपि चंचल सबहीं बिधि हीना ॥प्रात लेइ जो नाम हमारा। तेहि दिन ताहि न मिलै अहारा ॥

बताओ, मैं कौन-सा बड़ा कुलीन हूँ? मैं चंचल बन्दर हूँ और हर प्रकार से हीन हूँ। जो सुबह हमारा नाम ले ले, उस दिन उसे भोजन नहीं मिलता।
Tell me, what high birth do I have? I am a restless monkey, poor in every way. Whoever takes our name in the morning will find no food that day.

दोहा ७दोहा 7अस मैं अधम सखा सुनु मोहू पर रघुबीर।कीन्ही कृपा सुमिरि गुन भरे बिलोचन नीर ॥ ७ ॥

'सखा, सुनो, मैं ऐसा अधम हूँ, फिर भी रघुवीर ने मुझ पर भी कृपा की।' उनके गुणों को याद करके हनुमान की आँखों में आँसू भर आए।
