पूँछ
Rāvaṇa says the tailless monkey will go back and bring his master; then he will see the greatness of those Hanumān praised. Hearing this, Hanumān smiled in his mind: he knew Sarasvatī had come to his aid, for Rāvaṇa had said what he wanted. The demons began to carry out his plan. Soon there was no cloth, ghee or oil left in the city, and the tail grew, as the monkey played. The townspeople came for sport, kicked him and laughed. They beat drums, clapped, took him round the city and set the tail alight. Seeing the fire burn, Hanumān made himself tiny and slipped out of the bonds. He leapt up onto golden balconies, and the demon women were afraid. At that time, by Hari's will, the forty-nine winds blew; with a loud laugh Hanumān roared and grew until he touched the sky.रावण ने कहा कि बिना पूँछ का बन्दर वहाँ जाएगा और अपने स्वामी को ले आएगा, तब मैं देखूँगा जिनकी बहुत बड़ाई इसने की। यह सुनकर हनुमान मन में मुसकाए: मैंने जान लिया कि सरस्वती सहायक हुईं। रावण की बात सुनकर राक्षस वही रचना रचने लगे। नगर में कपड़ा, घी और तेल नहीं रहा; हनुमान ने पूँछ बढ़ाकर खेल किया। तमाशा देखने पुरवासी आए, लात मारते और बहुत हँसी करते थे। ढोल बजाए, सबने तालियाँ दीं, पूँछ को नगर में घुमाकर फिर आग लगा दी। हनुमान ने आग जलती देखी तो तुरन्त बहुत छोटा रूप धर लिया और बन्धन से निकल गए। वे सोने की अटारियों पर चढ़ गए और राक्षसों की स्त्रियाँ डर गईं। उसी समय हरि की प्रेरणा से उनचासों पवन चलने लगे। हनुमान अट्टहास करके गरजे और बढ़कर आकाश को छूने लगे।

'बिना पूँछ का बन्दर वहाँ जाएगा, तब वह मूर्ख अपने स्वामी को ले आएगा। जिनकी इसने इतनी बड़ाई की, मैं उनकी प्रभुता देखूँगा।'
'The tailless monkey will go back there, and then the fool will bring his master here. I shall see the greatness of those whom he has praised so much.'

२2बचन सुनत कपि मन मुसुकाना। भइ सहाय सारद मैं जाना ॥जातुधान सुनि रावन बचना। लागे रचैं मूढ़ सोइ रचना ॥

वचन सुनकर कपि मन में मुसकाए, 'मैंने जान लिया कि सरस्वती मेरी सहायक हुईं।' रावण की बात सुनकर राक्षस मूर्ख सचमुच वही रचना रचने लगे।
Hearing his words, the monkey smiled in his mind: 'I know that Sarasvatī has come to help me.' Hearing Rāvaṇa's words, the demons began to carry out the plan, fools that they were.

३3रहा न नगर बसन घृत तेला। बाढ़ी पूँछ कीन्ह कपि खेला ॥कौतुक कहँ आए पुरबासी। मारहिं चरन करहिं बहु हाँसी ॥

नगर में कपड़ा, घी और तेल नहीं रहा, क्योंकि कपि ने खेल में पूँछ बढ़ा ली थी। नगरवासी तमाशा देखने आए; वे लातें मारते और बहुत हँसते थे।
Soon no cloth, ghee or oil was left in the city, for the monkey made his tail grow in play. The townsmen came to watch the fun, kicking him and laughing.

४4बाजहिं ढोल देहिं सब तारी। नगर फेरि पुनि पूँछ प्रजारी ॥पावक जरत देखि हनुमंता। भयउ परम लघु रुप तुरंता ॥

ढोल बजे और सबने तालियाँ दीं। नगर में घुमाकर उन्होंने पूँछ में आग लगा दी। आग जलती देखकर हनुमान तुरन्त बहुत छोटे हो गए।
They beat drums and all clapped their hands. They took him round the city and then set the tail on fire. Seeing the flames, Hanumān at once became very small.

He slipped out of the bonds and sprang up on the golden balconies. The demon women were frightened.

उसी समय हरि की प्रेरणा से उनचासों पवन चले। हनुमान अट्टहास करके गरजे और बढ़कर आकाश को छूने लगे।
At that moment, sent by Hari, the forty-nine winds blew. Hanumān roared with a great laugh and grew until he touched the sky.
