Hanumān says that if Raghubīra had had news of her, he would not have delayed. The sun of Rāma's arrow, once risen, would end the mass of darkness that is the demons. He offers to take her at once, but he has no order from the Lord. He tells her to wait some days; Raghubīra will come with the monkeys, kill the demons and take her away, and the sages will sing of it in the three worlds. Sītā doubts: the monkeys are all small like Hanumān, and the demons are great and strong warriors. Hearing her doubt, Hanumān shows his own body, big as a golden mountain, terrible in battle, very strong. Sītā's mind was at rest, and Hanumān took the small form again. He tells her that monkeys have no great strength of body or wit, but through the Lord's glory even a tiny snake can eat Garuḍa.हनुमान ने कहा कि यदि रघुवीर को आपकी खबर मिल गई होती तो वे देर न करते। रामबाण रूपी सूर्य के उगने पर राक्षसों का अँधेरे का झुण्ड कहाँ रह सकता है? माता, मैं अभी आपको ले जाऊँ, पर राम की आज्ञा नहीं है। कुछ दिन धीरज धरो, रघुवीर वानरों सहित आएँगे, राक्षसों को मारकर आपको ले जाएँगे, और नारद आदि तीनों लोकों में उनका यश गाएँगे। सीता को संदेह हुआ कि सब वानर तो तुम्हारे जैसे छोटे हैं और राक्षस बड़े बलवान योद्धा। यह संदेह जानकर हनुमान ने अपना शरीर प्रकट किया: सोने के पर्वत के आकार का, युद्ध में भयंकर, बड़ा बलशाली। तब सीता के मन में भरोसा हुआ और हनुमान ने फिर छोटा रूप ले लिया। हनुमान ने कहा, माता, वानरों में बहुत बल और बुद्धि नहीं होती, पर प्रभु के प्रताप से अत्यन्त छोटा साँप भी गरुड़ को खा सकता है।

माता, मैं अभी आपको ले जाऊँ, पर प्रभु की आज्ञा नहीं है, मुझे राम की सौगन्ध है। माता, कुछ दिन धीरज धरो; रघुवीर वानरों सहित आएँगे।
Mother, I could take you away this moment, but I have no order from the Lord, I swear by Rāma. Be patient some days, mother. Raghubīra will come with the monkeys.

My heart holds a great doubt.' Hearing this, the monkey showed his own body, as big as a golden mountain, terrible in battle, very strong and brave.
