Kumbhakarṇa eats the buffaloes, drinks the wine, roars like a thunderbolt, and leaves the fort alone with no army. Vibhīṣaṇa comes before him, falls at his feet and gives his name. Kumbhakarṇa raises him and embraces him, glad to know he is a devotee of Raghupati. Vibhīṣaṇa says Rāvaṇa kicked him for giving good counsel, so he came to Rāma, who accepted him. Kumbhakarṇa says Rāvaṇa is in the grip of Death and will not listen now, blesses Vibhīṣaṇa as the jewel of his family, and tells him to worship Rāma truthfully in word, deed and mind. He asks him to leave, since he can no longer tell friend from foe.कुंभकर्ण भैंसे खाकर मदिरा पीता है और वज्र के समान गर्जता है, फिर बिना सेना के अकेला गढ़ छोड़कर चल देता है। विभीषण आगे आकर उसके चरणों में गिरता है और अपना नाम बताता है। कुंभकर्ण उसे उठाकर हृदय से लगा लेता है, रघुपति का भक्त जानकर उसे प्रसन्नता होती है। विभीषण कहता है कि हितकारी सलाह देने पर रावण ने उसे लात मारी, इसलिए वह राम के पास आया और प्रभु ने उसे अपनाया। कुंभकर्ण कहता है कि रावण काल के वश है और अब कुछ नहीं मानेगा; वह विभीषण को कुल का भूषण कहकर धन्य कहता है और कहता है कि मन, वचन और कर्म से कपट छोड़कर राम को भज। फिर कहता है कि अब वह जाए, क्योंकि उसे अपना-पराया नहीं सूझता।

Having eaten the buffaloes and drunk the wine, he roared like a thunderclap. Kumbhakarṇa, wild with pride, went out of the fort for battle, with no army beside him.

उसे देखकर विभीषण आगे आया, चरणों में गिरा और अपना नाम बताया। कुंभकर्ण ने छोटे भाई को उठाकर हृदय से लगा लिया, उसे रघुपति का भक्त जानकर मन में प्रसन्न हुआ।
Seeing him, Vibhīṣaṇa came forward, fell at his feet and told him his name. Kumbhakarṇa raised his younger brother and took him to his heart, glad in his mind to know him a devotee of Raghupati.

'भाई, रावण ने मुझे लात मारी, जबकि मैं उसे उसकी भलाई की सलाह दे रहा था। उसी ग्लानि से मैं रघुपति के पास आया; मुझे दीन देखकर प्रभु ने प्रसन्न होकर अपना लिया।'
'Brother, Rāvaṇa kicked me, though I gave him counsel for his own good. Ashamed of that, I came to Raghupati; seeing me helpless, the Lord took me in gladly.'

वचन, कर्म और मन से कपट छोड़कर रणधीर राम को भज। अब तू जा; मुझे अपना-पराया नहीं सूझता, मैं काल के वश में हो गया हूँ, वीर।
Give up all deceit in word, deed and mind, and worship Rāma, steady in battle. Go now; I can no longer tell my own from another's, I have fallen under the power of Death, brave one.
