Bharata asks for news of the treasury of joy, with his brother and mother Jānakī. The monkey tells the whole story in brief, and Bharata is sad and regrets: alas, why was he born, who was no use in even one of the Lord's tasks. Seeing that it is a bad time to grieve, he steadies his mind and speaks to the monkey again. He says Hanumān will be late, and the work will be lost at dawn; he should climb on his arrow with the mountain and Bharata will send him where the Lord of mercy is. The monkey's mind fills with pride: how will the arrow bear his weight? Then thinking of Rāma's power, he bows to Bharata's feet and says with folded hands that he will go quickly keeping Bharata's glory in his heart. He leaves with his leave. Pavankumāra goes, praising Bharata's strength of arm, character, virtue and his boundless love for the Lord's feet again and again in his mind.भरत ने पूछा कि तात, सुख के निधान की कुशल कहो, भाई और माता जानकी सहित। वानर ने सब कथा संक्षेप में कही। भरत दुखी हुए और मन में पछताए: हाय विधाता, मैं संसार में क्यों जन्मा कि प्रभु के एक भी काम न आया? कुअवसर जानकर धीरज धरकर बलवीर भरत फिर वानर से बोले: तात, तुम्हें जाने में देर होगी, भोर होते काम बिगड़ जाएगा। मेरे बाण पर पर्वत सहित चढ़ जाओ, मैं तुम्हें वहाँ भेज दूँगा जहाँ कृपा के घर राम हैं। यह सुनकर वानर के मन में अभिमान उठा कि मेरे भार से बाण कैसे चलेगा। फिर राम का प्रभाव विचारकर चरण वन्दना करके हाथ जोड़कर बोले: हे नाथ, आपके प्रताप को हृदय में रखकर मैं तुरन्त जाऊँगा। यह कहकर आज्ञा पाकर चरणों की वन्दना करके हनुमान चल पड़े। भरत का बाहुबल, शील, गुण और प्रभु के चरणों में अपार प्रीति, इन्हें मन में बार-बार सराहते हुए पवनकुमार चले जाते थे।
