बीरघातिनी साँगी
The wounded heroes shine like flowering kiṃśuka trees. Lakṣmaṇa and Meghanāda fight in great anger, and neither can win, for the demon uses tricks and unfair means. Then Lakṣmaṇa, the Endless one, grows angry and breaks the chariot and charioteer at once. He strikes in many ways until the demon has only a remnant of life. Rāvaṇa's son thinks his life is in danger from Hari's brother, and he hurls the hero-killing lance. It strikes Lakṣmaṇa in the chest, and the bright one faints. Meghanāda goes near him, free of fear. In the dohā hundreds of crores of warriors like Meghanāda try to lift him, but how can Śeṣa, the support of the world, be lifted? They go away ashamed.घायल वीर खिले हुए पलाश के वृक्षों जैसे शोभित हैं। लक्ष्मण और मेघनाद दोनों योद्धा बहुत क्रोध से आपस में भिड़ते हैं। कोई किसी को नहीं जीत पाता, क्योंकि राक्षस छल-बल से अनीति करता है। तब अनन्त रूप लक्ष्मण क्रोधित हुए और तुरन्त रथ और सारथी तोड़ दिए। उन्होंने नाना प्रकार से प्रहार किए, और राक्षस के प्राण ही शेष रह गए। रावण के पुत्र ने मन में सोचा कि हरि के भाई से मेरे प्राण संकट में हैं। उसने वीरघातिनी साँगी छोड़ी, जो तेज के पुंज लक्ष्मण के हृदय में लगी। शक्ति लगने से मूर्छा हो गई, तब मेघनाद भय छोड़कर उनके पास चला गया। दोहे में कहा है कि मेघनाद जैसे सैकड़ों करोड़ योद्धा उन्हें उठाने लगे, पर जगत के आधार शेष कैसे उठते? वे खिसियाकर चले गए।

Neither could beat the other, and the demon used tricks and strength unfairly. Then the Endless one grew angry, and broke the chariot and charioteer at once.

He struck him in many ways, until the demon had only a remnant of life. Rāvaṇa's son thought in his own mind, 'My life is in danger from Hari's brother.'

४4बीरघातिनी छाड़िसि साँगी। तेज पुंज लछिमन उर लागी ॥मुरुछा भई सक्ति के लागें। तब चलि गयउ निकट भय त्यागें ॥

He hurled the lance that kills heroes, and it struck Lakṣmaṇa, that mass of splendour, in the chest. He fainted at the blow of the lance. Then Meghanāda went near, free of fear.
