माया बिधि नाना

Seeing the army in distress, Pavansuta runs in rage like Time. He tears up a huge hill and hurls it at Meghanāda. Seeing it come, Meghanāda goes up into the sky, and his chariot, charioteer and horses are lost. Hanumān challenges him again and again, but Meghanāda does not come near, knowing his secret. He goes near Raghupati and speaks abuse in many ways. He throws all kinds of weapons and missiles, and the Lord cuts them off in play. Seeing the Lord's glory, the fool is ashamed and begins to work many kinds of illusion, like one who plays with Garuḍa and tries to frighten him with a small snake-charmer's snake. The dohā says that he who has so mighty a power of illusion that even Śiva and Brahmā, great and small, bow to it, is shown a demon's magic by a low-minded fellow. सेना को बेहाल देखकर पवनपुत्र क्रोध से काल की तरह दौड़े। उन्होंने तुरन्त एक बड़ा पर्वत उखाड़ा और अत्यन्त क्रोध से मेघनाद पर फेंका। उसे आते देख मेघनाद आकाश में चला गया और उसके रथ, सारथी और घोड़े सब नष्ट हो गए। हनुमान बार-बार ललकारते हैं, पर वह उनके पास नहीं आता, क्योंकि वह उनका मर्म जानता है। मेघनाद रघुपति के पास गया और बहुत प्रकार से गाली बकी। उसने सब अस्त्र-शस्त्र चला दिए और प्रभु ने खेल में उन्हें काटकर हटा दिया। प्रभु का प्रताप देखकर मूर्ख खिसियाया और तरह-तरह की माया करने लगा, जैसे कोई गरुड़ से खेल करे और छोटे-से सँपेरे के साँप को पकड़कर उसे डराए। दोहे में कहा है कि जिनकी प्रबल माया के बल से शिव और ब्रह्मा जैसे बड़े-छोटे सब बँधे हैं, उन्हें यह दुष्ट बुद्धि वाला राक्षस अपनी माया दिखाता है।
