Aṅgada tells Rāvaṇa to stop his empty talk and listen with pride put aside. He did not come as a mere messenger: Raghubīra sent him, knowing that a lion earns no fame by killing jackals. Remembering the Lord's words, he bore Rāvaṇa's harsh talk. Otherwise he would have smashed his face and carried off Sītā by force. He knows Rāvaṇa's strength, for he stole another man's wife from an empty house. Rāvaṇa is full of pride, and Aṅgada is the messenger of Raghupati's servant. If he were not afraid of dishonouring Rāma, he would show him a sight before his eyes: dash him to the ground, kill his army, ruin his village and take Sītā away with his young women.अंगद कहते हैं कि अब बड़-बड़ मत कर, मान छोड़कर मेरी बात सुन। दसमुख, मैं केवल दूत बनकर नहीं आया हूँ; यह सोचकर रघुवीर ने मुझे भेजा। कृपालु बार-बार कहते हैं कि सियार को मारने से सिंह का यश नहीं होता। प्रभु के वचन मन में समझकर मैंने तेरे कठोर वचन सह लिए, दुष्ट। नहीं तो तेरा मुँह तोड़कर मैं सीता को बलपूर्वक ले जाता। हे देवताओं के शत्रु, मैंने तेरा बल जान लिया, जो सूने घर से परायी स्त्री हर लाया। तू राक्षसराज बड़ा अभिमानी है, और मैं रघुपति के सेवक का दूत हूँ। यदि मैं राम के अपमान से न डरता तो तेरे देखते ऐसा तमाशा करता: तुझे धरती पर पटककर, सेना मारकर, तेरा गाँव चौपट करके, तेरी युवतियों सहित, हे मूर्ख, जनकसुता को ले जाता।
