Rāvaṇa says the monkeys joined together and bound the sea, and that is all their greatness. Many birds cross the sea, and none are heroes on that account. His own arms are a sea filled with the water of strength, where many gods, men and heroes have drowned. Twenty bottomless seas, he says: what hero can cross them? He made the guardians of the quarters carry water, and the wicked one tells him of a king's fame. If Aṅgada's master is a great warrior and he sings his praise again and again, why does he send an envoy and feel no shame at asking friendship from an enemy? Let him look at the arms that shook Kailāsa.
