Aṅgada says: give up cleverness and worship Rāma, the sea of mercy. If you become Rāma's enemy, neither Brahmā nor Rudra can protect you. Do not boast in vain, for this is how the quarrel with Rāma will end: your heads will fall before the monkeys, struck by his arrows, and the bears and monkeys will play polo with them like balls. When Raghunāyaka is angry in the battle, many terrible arrows will be loosed. Will such talk go on then? Think of this and worship generous Rāma. Hearing this, Rāvaṇa burns like a great fire when butter is poured on it. In the dohā he answers that Kumbhakarṇa is his brother and the famous Indrajit his son, and that Aṅgada has not heard of his prowess, for he conquered all that moves and does not move.अंगद कहते हैं: चतुराई छोड़ दो और कृपासिन्धु राम को भजो। यदि तुम राम के द्रोही हो गए तो ब्रह्मा और रुद्र भी तुम्हें नहीं बचा सकते। मूर्ख, व्यर्थ बकवास मत करो, राम से बैर का अन्त ऐसा होगा: तुम्हारे सिरों के ढेर वानरों के आगे राम के बाण लगने पर धरती पर गिरेंगे, और भालू-वानर उन्हें गेंद की तरह चौगान में खेलेंगे। जब रघुनायक रण में क्रोध करेंगे तब बहुत से भयंकर बाण छूटेंगे। तब क्या तुम्हारी यह बकवास चलेगी? यह सोचकर उदार राम को भजो। यह सुनकर रावण ऐसे जल उठा जैसे बड़ी आग में घी पड़ा हो। दोहे में वह कहता है कि कुम्भकर्ण जैसा उसका भाई है, इन्द्र का शत्रु मेघनाद जैसा प्रसिद्ध पुत्र है, और तूने उसका पराक्रम नहीं सुना, उसने चराचर सब झाड़कर जीत लिया है।
