बानर जूथ
Śiva tells Umā that no one could count the monkey host. Each monkey came, bowed to Rāma and was made happy by the sight of his face, and Rāma asked each of them how they were. This is no great thing for him, since he fills the whole world. Sugrīva tells the monkeys that this is Rāma's work and his own request, and sends them out in four directions to find Janaka's daughter within a month, on pain of death. Then he calls Aṅgada, Nala and Hanumān.शिव उमा से कहते हैं कि उस वानर-सेना को कोई गिन नहीं सकता। हर वानर आकर राम के चरणों में माथा नवाता है और उनका मुख देखकर कृतार्थ हो जाता है, और राम सबसे कुशल पूछते हैं। यह उनके लिए बड़ी बात नहीं, क्योंकि वे सारे जगत में व्याप्त हैं। सुग्रीव वानरों से कहता है कि यह राम का काम है और मेरी विनती है; चारों दिशाओं में जाकर एक महीने में जनकपुत्री को खोज लाओ, नहीं तो मेरे हाथ से मरना होगा। फिर वह अंगद, नल और हनुमान को बुलाता है।

उमा, मैंने वह वानर-सेना देखी; जो उसे गिनना चाहे वह मूर्ख है। वे आकर राम के चरणों में माथा नवाते और उनका मुख देखकर सब धन्य हो जाते थे।
Umā, I saw that monkey host; anyone who tries to count it is a fool. They came, bowed their heads at Rāma's feet, and every one of them was blessed by the sight of his face.

सेना में ऐसा एक भी वानर न था जिससे राम ने कुशल न पूछी हो। प्रभु के लिए यह कोई बड़ी बात नहीं, क्योंकि राम सर्वव्यापक हैं और सारा संसार उनका रूप है।
There was not one monkey in the army whom Rāma did not ask after his well-being. This is nothing great for the Lord, for Rāma is all-pervading and has the whole world as his form.

आज्ञा पाकर वे जहाँ-तहाँ खड़े हो गए, और सुग्रीव ने सबको समझाकर कहा, 'यह राम का काम है और मेरी विनती है। वानरों के दलो, चारों ओर जाओ।
They stood here and there awaiting orders, and Sugrīva told them all plainly: 'This is Rāma's work and it is my request. Go, bands of monkeys, in all four directions.

४4जनकसुता कहुँ खोजहु जाई। मास दिवस महँ आएहु भाई ॥अवधि मेटि जो बिनु सुधि पाएँ। आवइ बनिहि सो मोहि मराएँ ॥

जाकर जनक की पुत्री को खोजो, और भाइयो, एक महीने में लौट आना। जो अवधि बिताकर बिना खबर पाए लौटेगा, उसे मेरे हाथ से मरना पड़ेगा।'
Go and look for Janaka's daughter, and come back within a month, brothers. Whoever lets the time pass and returns without news will have to die by my hand.'

यह वचन सुनते ही सब वानर तुरन्त जहाँ-तहाँ चल पड़े। तब सुग्रीव ने अंगद, नल और हनुमान को बुलाया।
