Chapter Thirteen · The rains begin · Verses 1–

The forest on the hill is full of flowers, humming bees, roots and fruits, and has grown more so since the Lord came. Gods take the forms of bees, birds and deer to serve him, and siddhas and sages serve him too. The two brothers sit on a white slab of crystal and Rāma tells Lakṣmaṇa of devotion, detachment, kingship and discernment. The rainy season comes, the clouds thunder, and Rāma points out the peacocks dancing at the sight of the clouds.
