कामदेव का प्रभाव
Kāma says that even so he will do the gods' work, for the Vedas call helping others the highest dharma, and saints praise one who gives up his body for another. He goes with his flower bow and helpers, thinking that opposing Śiva means certain death. He spreads his power and brings the whole world under him. When Kāma is angry, every bridge of the Vedas is gone in a moment: celibacy, vows, restraint, steadiness, dharma, knowledge, good conduct, chanting, yoga and dispassion all flee, and Discernment runs from the field with his army, hiding in mountain caves among good books. Fate and the Maker stand witness: who can stop what must be? Every being, moving or still, male or female, forgets its own limit and comes under Kāma.कामदेव कहता है कि फिर भी मैं तुम्हारा काम करूँगा, क्योंकि वेद कहते हैं कि परोपकार परम धर्म है, और जो दूसरे के हित के लिए देह त्यागता है उसकी संत सदा प्रशंसा करते हैं। यह कहकर वह सबको प्रणाम कर फूलों का धनुष लेकर सहायकों सहित चला। चलते हुए उसने सोचा कि शिव का विरोध करने से मेरा मरना निश्चित है। तब उसने अपना प्रभाव फैलाया और सारे संसार को अपने वश में कर लिया। जब कामदेव ने क्रोध किया तो पल भर में वेदों की सब मर्यादाएँ मिट गईं: ब्रह्मचर्य, व्रत, संयम, धैर्य, धर्म, ज्ञान, सदाचार, जप, योग, वैराग्य, सब की सेना भयभीत होकर भाग गई। विवेक अपने सहायकों सहित रणभूमि से मुड़ गया और सद्ग्रन्थ रूपी पर्वतों की गुफाओं में जा छिपा। जो होने वाला है उसका कर्ता और रखवाला कौन है, इसे कौन रोक सकता है? संसार के सजीव, चर-अचर, स्त्री-पुरुष सब अपनी-अपनी मर्यादा छोड़कर काम के वश हो गए।

'फिर भी मैं तुम्हारा काम करूँगा, क्योंकि वेद कहते हैं कि परोपकार परम धर्म है। जो दूसरे के हित के लिए देह त्याग देता है, संत सदा उसकी प्रशंसा करते हैं।'
'Even so, I will do your work, for the Vedas say that helping others is the highest dharma. Saints always praise the one who gives up his body for another's good.'

यह कहकर कामदेव सबको सिर नवाकर फूलों का धनुष और सहायक साथ लेकर चला। चलते हुए उसने मन में सोचा: 'शिव का विरोध करने में मेरा मरना निश्चित है।'
So saying, Kāma bowed his head to all and went off with his flower bow and his helpers. As he went he thought in his heart: 'Opposing Śiva is certain death for me.'

३3तब आपन प्रभाउ बिस्तारा। निज बस कीन्ह सकल संसारा ॥कोपेउ जबहि बारिचरकेतू। छन महुँ मिटे सकल श्रुति सेतू ॥

तब उसने अपना प्रभाव फैलाया और सारे संसार को अपने वश में कर लिया। जब मीनध्वज कामदेव ने क्रोध किया तो क्षण भर में वेदों की सब मर्यादाओं के सेतु टूट गए।
Then he spread his own power and brought the whole world under his control. When the god with the fish banner grew angry, in a moment every bridge laid down by the Vedas was gone.
brahmacarja brata saṃjama nānā dhīraja dharama gyāna bigyānā |sadācāra japa joga birāgā sabhaya bibeka kaṭaku saba bhāgā ||

ब्रह्मचर्य, व्रत, अनेक प्रकार के संयम, धैर्य, धर्म, ज्ञान-विज्ञान, सदाचार, जप, योग और वैराग्य: विवेक की सारी सेना भय से भाग गई।
Celibacy, vows, restraint of many kinds, steadiness, dharma, knowledge and wisdom, good conduct, chanting, yoga and dispassion: the whole army of Discernment fled in fear.

bhāgeu bibeka sahāya sahita so subhaṭa saṃjuga mahi mure |sadagraṃtha parbata kaṃdaranhi mahum̐ jāi tehi avasara dure |honihāra kā karatāra ko rakhavāra jaga kharabharu parā |dui mātha kehi ratinātha jehi kahum̐ ko'pi kara dhanu saru dharā ||

विवेक अपने सहायकों सहित भाग गया; वह वीर योद्धा रणभूमि से मुड़ गया और उस समय सद्ग्रन्थ रूपी पर्वतों की गुफाओं में जा छिपा। जो होना है उसे कौन रोके, कर्ता कौन है, रखवाला कौन? संसार में खलबली मच गई। रतिपति कामदेव के विरुद्ध धनुष-बाण उठाने वाला कौन दो सिर वाला है?
Discernment fled with his helpers; that brave warrior turned from the field and hid in the caves of the mountains of good books. What is to be, who makes it, who guards against it? The world was thrown into uproar. Who has two heads, that he would raise bow and arrow against Rati's lord?

दोहा ८४दोहा 84जे सजीव जग अचर चर नारि पुरुष अस नाम।ते निज निज मरजाद तजि भए सकल बस काम ॥ ८४ ॥
