तारकासुर का उत्पात
The sages go to Himālaya, plead, and bring Girijā home. Then the seven sages go to Śiva and tell him all about Umā. Śiva is lost in joy at hearing her love; the sages go home glad. Steadying his mind, wise Śambhu begins to meditate on Raghunātha. At that time a demon, Tāraka, grew great in strength and glory, and conquered all the worlds and their guardians; the gods lost their joy and wealth. He was ageless and deathless, could not be conquered, and the gods lost many battles to him. Then they went and cried out to Brahmā, who saw all the gods were in pain. Brahmā explained to them that the demon would die only by a son born of Śambhu's seed, who would win him in battle.मुनियों ने जाकर हिमवान् को भेजा और विनती करके गिरिजा को घर ले आए। फिर सप्तर्षि शिव के पास जाकर उमा की सारी कथा सुनाते हैं। स्नेह की बात सुनकर शिव मग्न हो गए और सप्तर्षि प्रसन्न होकर अपने घर गए। तब सुजान शम्भु मन को स्थिर करके रघुनायक का ध्यान करने लगे। उसी समय तारक नाम का असुर हुआ, जिसकी भुजाओं का प्रताप, बल और तेज बड़ा था; उसने सब लोक और लोकपाल जीत लिए और देवता सुख-सम्पत्ति से रहित हो गए। वह अजर और अमर था, किसी से जीता नहीं जाता था; देवता अनेक युद्धों में हार गए। तब वे ब्रह्मा के पास जाकर पुकारे और ब्रह्मा ने सब देवताओं को दुःखी देखा। ब्रह्मा ने सबको समझाकर कहा कि इस दानव का वध तब होगा जब शम्भु के वीर्य से उत्पन्न पुत्र उसे युद्ध में जीतेगा।

उमा का स्नेह सुनकर शिव मग्न हो गए, और सप्तर्षि प्रसन्न होकर घर चले गए। तब सुजान शम्भु मन को स्थिर करके रघुनायक का ध्यान करने लगे।
Hearing of her love, Śiva was lost in joy, and the seven sages went home glad. Then wise Śambhu steadied his mind and began to meditate on Raghunāyaka.

३3तारकु असुर भयउ तेहि काला। भुज प्रताप बल तेज बिसाला ॥तेंहि सब लोक लोकपति जीते। भए देव सुख संपति रीते ॥

उस समय तारक नाम का असुर हुआ, जिसके भुजबल, प्रताप और तेज बहुत बड़े थे। उसने सब लोक और लोकपाल जीत लिए, और देवता सुख-सम्पत्ति से रहित हो गए।
At that time there was a demon named Tāraka, of great arm-strength, glory and power. He conquered all the worlds and their guardians, and the gods were left without joy or wealth.

४4अजर अमर सो जीति न जाई। हारे सुर करि बिबिध लराई ॥तब बिरंचि सन जाइ पुकारे। देखे बिधि सब देव दुखारे ॥
ajara amara so jīti na jāī hāre sura kari bibidha larāī |taba biraṃci sana jāi pukāre dekhe bidhi saba deva dukhāre ||

वह अजर-अमर था और जीता नहीं जा सकता था; देवता अनेक युद्ध करके हार गए। तब वे ब्रह्मा के पास जाकर पुकारे, और ब्रह्मा ने सब देवताओं को दुःखी देखा।
He was ageless and deathless and could not be conquered; the gods fought many battles and lost. Then they went to Brahmā and cried out for help, and Brahmā saw all the gods in distress.

दोहा ८२दोहा 82सब सन कहा बुझाइ बिधि दनुज निधन तब होइ।संभु सुक्र संभूत सुत एहि जीतइ रन सोइ ॥ ८२ ॥
saba sana kahā bujhāi bidhi danuja nidhana taba hoi |saṃbhu sukra saṃbhūta suta ehi jītai rana soi ||

ब्रह्मा ने सबको समझाकर कहा: 'यह दानव तभी मरेगा जब शम्भु के वीर्य से उत्पन्न पुत्र उसे युद्ध में जीतेगा।
