All the rivers flow with pure water, and birds, beasts and bees live happily. Creatures give up their natural enmity, and all love the mountain. The mountain shines with Girijā in his house, like a man who has gained devotion to Rāma. His house has new joy every day, and Brahmā and the others sing his fame. Nārada hears the news and goes there out of curiosity. The mountain king honours him greatly, washes his feet and gives him a fine seat. With his wife he bows his head at the sage's feet and has the water of the feet sprinkled over the house. He praises his own fortune, calls his daughter and lays her at the sage's feet. Then he asks the sage, who knows past, present and future, to look carefully and tell the daughter's faults and virtues.
