The sage Bharadvāja lives at Prayāga and loves Rāma's feet very much. He is an ascetic, a store of calm, restraint and mercy, and very wise in the way to the highest good. When the sun enters Capricorn in the month of Māgha, all come to the lord of holy places. Gods, demons, kinnaras and groups of men bathe with respect at the Triveṇī. They worship the lotus feet of Mādhava and touch the undying banyan, and their bodies are glad. Bharadvāja's hermitage is very holy, very lovely and dear to the minds of great sages. There a gathering of sages and seers is formed from those who go to bathe at the king of holy places. They bathe in the morning with joy, and then tell each other of the virtues of Hari.
