Chapter 41·More parts of the river·Verses 1–
The lovely tale of Sītā's svayaṁvara is the lovely river with a charm spread over it. The many questions are the boats of the river and the clever, wise answers are the boatmen. The talk that follows among the travellers is the company of wayfarers on that river. The wrath of Bhṛgunātha is the fearful current, and Rāma's fine words are the well-built ghat. The joy of the wedding of Rāma and his brothers is the good flood that rises to give joy to all. Those who tell and hear it with gladness are the doers of good who bathe with glad minds. The preparations for Rāma's anointing are the gathering at a holy day. Kaikeyī's bad judgement is the weed upon the water, whose fruit was so much trouble. The dohā says that Bharata's deeds, which calm all troubles, are the prayer and the fire rite; and the telling of the faults of the wicked in this age are the dirt of the water, the herons and the crows.
