By Śambhu's grace good understanding rose in the poet's heart, and Tulasī, poet of the Rāmacaritamānasa, makes it lovely as his wit allows; let the good hear and set it right. Good understanding is the ground of the lake, the heart is deep, and the Vedas, Purāṇas and the good are the sea and clouds. They rain the lovely water of Rāma's fame, sweet, charming and bringing good. The telling of his playful deeds with form is its cleanness, which destroys dirt; the love and devotion that cannot be described are its sweetness and coolness. That water is good for the rice of good deeds and is the life of Rāma's devotees. Falling on the ground of the intelligence, it runs along the ear's channel and fills the lovely lake, where it stands firm: pleasant, cool, and of lovely colour and old. Good understanding is the ground of the lake, and the heart is its deep place. The Vedas and Purāṇas are the sea, and the good are the clouds, who rain down the sweet, lovely and good-bringing water of Rāma's fame.

That water is good for the rice of good deeds, and is the very life of Rāma's devotees. Falling on the ground of the intelligence, it flowed lovely along the path of the ear.
