चारि सिंघासन सहज सुहाए
Four thrones, naturally lovely as if Kāma had made them himself, are set out. The princes and princesses are seated on them and their feet are respectfully washed. With incense, lamps and food by the rules of the Veda, the mothers worship the grooms and brides, treasures of good fortune. Again and again they wave the lamps, and fine fans and whisks sway over their heads. Many things are waved around them, and all the mothers shine, full of joy, like yogis who have found the highest truth, or a long-time invalid who has got nectar, or a man poor from birth who has found the philosopher's stone, a blind man given sight, a dumb man whom Sarasvatī has filled, or a warrior who has won the field. The mothers feel a hundred million times more joy than these when the moon of the Raghus has come home with his brothers married. Following worldly custom, the mothers do the rites, the brides and grooms are shy, and Rāma, seeing the great joy and fun, smiles to himself.चार सिंहासन स्वभाव से सुहावने हैं, मानो कामदेव ने अपने हाथ से बनाए हों। उन पर कुँअर और कुँअरियों को बैठाया और आदर से उनके पवित्र पैर धोए। धूप, दीप और नैवेद्य से वेद की विधि के अनुसार माताओं ने मंगलनिधि वर-वधुओं की पूजा की। वे बार-बार आरती करती हैं, सिर पर सुन्दर पंखे और चँवर ढुलते हैं। अनेक वस्तुएँ न्योछावर होती हैं; सब माताएँ आनन्द से भरी शोभित हैं। जैसे योगी को परम तत्त्व मिल गया हो और सदा के रोगी को अमृत; जन्म के कंगाल को पारस और अंधे को सुहावनी आँखें मिल गई हों, गूँगे के मुख में सरस्वती आ बसी हों, या रण में शूरवीर ने विजय पाई हो — माताओं को उससे सौ करोड़ गुना आनन्द मिलता है, जब रघुकुल के चन्द्र भाइयों सहित ब्याहकर घर आए। लोक रीति माताएँ करती हैं, वर-वधुएँ संकोच करते हैं। यह आनन्द और विनोद देखकर राम मन ही मन मुसकराते हैं।
