Chapter 347·The procession enters the city·Verses 1–
The smoke of incense turns the sky dark, as if rain clouds had gathered in pride. Garlands of wishing-tree flowers rained by the gods look like lines of cranes drawing the mind. Lovely jewelled arches are like Indra's bows. Women appear and hide on the rooftops like lovely, restless lightning. The sound of drums is the roar of thunder, the beggars are the cuckoos, frogs and peacocks, the gods rain scented clear water, and all the men and women of the city are happy like crops. Seeing the hour, the guru gives his leave, and the jewel of the Raghus enters the city, remembering Śambhu, Girijā and Gaṇeśa, and the king glad with his company. Omens appear and the gods rain flowers, beating drums, while heavenly women dance, singing lovely, happy songs.
