Chapter 331·Gifts to Brahmins and beggars·Verses 1–
The king bows full length to every sage, worships them and gives them fine seats. He has four lakh cows brought, gentle and lovely as the cow of plenty, adorned in every way, and gladly gives them to the Brahmins. With many a plea he says that today he has gained the fruit of life. Getting the sages' blessings, he calls the crowds of beggars and gives gold, clothes, jewels, horses, elephants and chariots, asking each what he likes. They go off reciting and singing his praises, crying 'Victory to the lord of the sun's line!' Such is the joy of Rāma's wedding that even a being with a thousand mouths could not tell it. Again and again the king bows his head at Kauśika's feet and says that all this happiness is by the sage's grace.
