Chapter 296·Ayodhya is decorated·Verses 1–
People went off speaking of it, wearing fine cloths, and joyfully beat their drums. Everyone heard the news and congratulations began in house after house. Joy filled the fourteen worlds at the marriage of Jānakī and Raghubīra. Hearing the good tale, people were full of love and began to decorate the roads, houses and lanes. Ayodhya is always lovely, a holy city of auspiciousness, Rāma's city; yet from love of that love they made auspicious arrangements. Flags, banners, cloths and fine whisks covered the market wonderfully; there were golden pots, arches, nets of jewels, turmeric, dūrvā grass, curds, rice and garlands. Each in his house made it auspicious; streets were sprinkled with fragrance and lovely patterns were drawn on the squares.
