करिअ कृपा सिसु सेवक जानी
Rāma says, 'Lord, be kind to the child, and do not be angry with a milk-mouthed boy. If he had known even a little of your power, would he, in ignorance, rival you? When a child does some mischief, the guru, father and mother are glad. Look on him as a child and a servant and be kind, for you are patient, gentle, a wise sage.' Hearing Rāma, the sage cooled a little. Lakṣmaṇa said something and smiled again. Seeing him laugh, anger spread over the sage from head to foot: 'Rāma, your brother is very sinful. His body is fair but his mind is dark; he is poison-mouthed, not milk-mouthed. He is naturally crooked and does not follow you; he is base and does not see Death before him.' Lakṣmaṇa said, laughing, 'Hear, sage: anger is the root of sin; under its power people do wrong and go against the whole world.'राम ने कहा: हे नाथ, बालक पर दया कीजिए। इस दूधमुँहे पर क्रोध न कीजिए। यदि आपका प्रभाव कुछ भी जानता, तो क्या अनजान आपकी बराबरी करता? जब लड़का कुछ चंचलता करता है, तब गुरु, पिता और माता मन में प्रसन्न होते हैं। शिशु और सेवक जानकर कृपा कीजिए; आप तो शीलवान, धीर और ज्ञानी मुनि हैं। राम के वचन सुनकर परशुराम कुछ शांत हुए। लक्ष्मण ने कुछ कहा और फिर मुस्कुराए। उन्हें हँसता देखकर नख से शिख तक क्रोध व्याप गया। परशुराम बोले, 'राम, तेरा भाई बड़ा पापी है। शरीर से गोरा है पर मन का काला है; वह मुँह में विष रखता है, दूध नहीं। स्वभाव से टेढ़ा है, तेरे जैसा नहीं; नीच है, काल को सामने भी नहीं देखता।' लक्ष्मण ने हँसकर कहा: हे मुनि, सुनिए, क्रोध पाप की जड़ है; उसके वश में होकर लोग अनुचित करते हैं और सारे संसार के विरुद्ध चलते हैं।
