Chapter 263·Joy in Janaka's house; Sītā goes to Rāma·Verses 1–
Cymbals, drums, conches, pipes and kettledrums sounded, and women sang auspicious songs. The queen and her friends were very glad, like dry rice that has received rain; Janaka found joy and let go of worry, like a tired swimmer who finds the bottom. The kings lost their lustre as lamps lose theirs by day. Sītā's joy is beyond telling, like the chātaka getting Svāti water. Lakṣmaṇa looked at Rāma as a young chakora looks at the moon. Then Śatānanda gave his order, and Sītā went toward Rāma, singing friends around her, with the gait of a young swan.

Cymbals, drums, conches, pipes, kettledrums and pleasant large drums sounded; many fine instruments played, and wherever young women sang auspicious songs.

The queen with her friends was very glad, like drying rice that has been rained on. Janaka found joy and left worry behind, like a tired swimmer who finds the bottom.

The kings lost their lustre when the bow broke, as a lamp's glow leaves it by day. How can Sītā's joy be told? It was like the chātaka bird getting Svāti rain.
Explanation
The chātaka is said to drink only the rain that falls under the Svāti star; so Sītā's longing is for one thing only.
Verse 4
