Chapter 185·The Lord appears through love·Verses 1–
The gods sit together and ask where they can find the Lord to call out to him. Some say Vaikuṇṭha, some the ocean of milk. Śiva tells Pārvatī that he was in that gathering and spoke: the Lord appears in each heart in the way that heart loves him. Hari fills every place and time and direction, so there is nowhere he is not. He fills all that moves and does not move, yet stays apart, and through love he appears as fire does. The gods agree, and Brahmā, glad, with tears in his eyes and folded hands, begins his praise.

The gods sat down together and took counsel: 'Where can we find the Lord, so as to call out to him?' Some said, 'Go to the city of Vaikuṇṭha.' Others said, 'The Lord dwells in the ocean of milk.'

In whatever heart there is devotion and love, the Lord is always revealed there, in just that way. Girijā, I was in that gathering, and when I found a chance I spoke one thing.

Hearing this, Brahmā was glad at heart; his body thrilled and tears flowed from his eyes. Steady-minded and attentive, he folded his hands and began to praise the Lord.
