Seeing his love and hearing his priceless words, the merciful Lord said, 'Let it be so. Where could I go to find one like myself? I will come to be your son.' Looking at Śatarūpā with folded hands, he said, 'Goddess, ask a boon, whatever pleases you.' She said, 'The boon my wise lord asked pleased me very much too. But, Lord, it is great boldness, even though it pleases you for your devotees' sake. You are the father of Brahmā and the rest, lord of the world; Brahman, within the heart of all. Thinking so, doubt arises in my mind; yet what you said is accepted. The joy, the state, the devotion and love of your feet, the discernment, the way of living that your own devotees have, Lord, in your mercy give us that.' उनकी प्रीति देखकर और अमोल वचन सुनकर करुणानिधि बोले, 'ऐसा ही हो। मैं अपने जैसा कहाँ जाकर खोजूँ? हे राजन्, मैं स्वयं आकर तुम्हारा पुत्र होऊँगा।' फिर शतरूपा को हाथ जोड़े देखकर बोले, 'हे देवी, जो वर तुम्हारी रुचि का हो वह माँगो।' वह बोली, 'हे नाथ, चतुर राजा ने जो वर माँगा, वही मुझे भी बहुत प्रिय लगा। हे प्रभु, फिर भी बड़ी ढिठाई होती है, यद्यपि वह भक्तों के हित में आपको भाती है। आप ब्रह्मा आदि के पिता, जगत के स्वामी और सबके हृदय के अन्तर्यामी ब्रह्म हैं। ऐसा समझते हुए मन में संशय होता है, फिर भी आपने जो कहा, वह मान्य है। हे प्रभु, जो सुख, जो गति, जो भक्ति, जो अपने चरणों का स्नेह, जो विवेक और जो रहनी आपके अपने भक्तों को मिलती है, वही हमें कृपा करके दीजिए।'
