He looked again in the water and found his own form back; still his heart found no peace. His lip quivering and anger in his mind, he went quickly to the lord of Kamalā. 'Shall I curse him or die by going there? He has made me a laughing-stock before the world.' On the road he met the enemy of the demons, with Ramā and that same princess. The lord of the gods spoke sweetly: 'Sage, where are you going, as if in pain?' Hearing this, great anger came upon him, and, blinded by illusion, his mind did not stay steady. 'You cannot bear to see another's wealth; you are full of envy and deceit. When the sea was churned, you drove Rudra mad and made him drink poison, sent by the gods. You kept the wine for the demons, poison for Śaṅkara, and took Ramā and the fine jewel for yourself. You are selfish and crooked, and always deal in deceit.'फिर उन्होंने जल में देखा तो अपना रूप फिर पाया, तो भी हृदय में सन्तोष नहीं आया। होंठ फड़कते थे और मन में क्रोध भरा था। वे तुरंत कमलापति के पास चले। 'मैं उन्हें श्राप दूँगा या जाकर मर जाऊँगा। उन्होंने जगत में मेरी हँसी करवाई।' बीच रास्ते में ही दनुजारि हरि मिल गए, उनके साथ रमा और वही राजकुमारी थी। देवों के स्वामी ने मधुर वचन कहे, 'हे मुनि, व्याकुल की तरह कहाँ चले?' यह सुनते ही बहुत क्रोध उपजा; माया के वश में मन में बोध नहीं रहा। 'तुम दूसरे की सम्पदा नहीं देख सकते; तुम्हारे मन में ईर्ष्या और कपट बहुत है। समुद्र मथते समय तुमने रुद्र को बावला बनाया और देवताओं को प्रेरित करके उनसे विष पिलवाया। असुरों को सुरा, शंकर को विष, और अपने लिए रमा और सुन्दर मणि लिया; तुम स्वार्थ साधने वाले कुटिल हो और तुम्हारा व्यवहार सदा कपट का है।'
