Chapter 118·The world, like a dream, rests on Hari·Verses 1–
In this way the world rests on Hari, and though unreal it gives pain, as if in a dream someone cut your head: the pain does not go until you wake. By whose mercy such confusion goes, Girijā, that same Raghurāī is merciful. No one has found his beginning or end; this the Vedas declare, by guessing with their understanding. He walks without feet and hears without ears; he does many acts without hands. Without a mouth he enjoys all tastes, and without speech is a great speaker. Without a body he feels, without eyes he sees, and without a nose he takes in every scent. Such is his wonderful work, whose greatness cannot be told. The one whom the Vedas and the wise sing so, and on whom sages meditate, he is Daśaratha's son, Lord of Kosala, born for his devotees' good.

By whose mercy such confusion is removed, Girijā, he is that merciful Raghurāī. No one has found his beginning or end; the Vedas declare this by guessing, each as far as its understanding goes.
