Thus, speaking of Rāma's virtues, dawn came, and those who bless the world woke. Rāma finished his morning rites and bathed, and the wise one had the banyan milk fetched. He and his brother made matted hair on their heads, and seeing it, Sumantra's eyes filled with tears. His heart burned, his face was dull, and he said humbly with folded hands: Lord, the king of Kosala said, take the chariot with Rāma, show the forest and bathe them in the Gaṅgā, and bring both brothers back; bring Lakṣmaṇa, Rāma and Sītā back, free of doubt and shyness. The Lord, the king said so, as I do; saying so, he fell at Rāma's feet and wept like a child.राम के गुण कहते-कहते भोर हो गया और जगत का मंगल करने वाले जागे। राम ने सब कर्म करके स्नान किया और बड़ से दूध मँगाया। भाई सहित सिर पर जटा बनाई; यह देखकर सुमंत्र की आँखों में आँसू भर आए। हृदय में बड़ी जलन थी, मुख उदास था, और हाथ जोड़कर बड़ी दीनता से बोले: नाथ, कोसलनाथ ने ऐसा कहा कि रथ लेकर राम के साथ जाओ, वन दिखाओ, गंगा में नहलाओ, और दोनों भाइयों को लौटा लाओ। लक्ष्मण, राम और सीता को संशय और संकोच छोड़कर लौटा लाना। राजा ने ऐसा कहा है और मैं भी यही विनती करता हूँ। यह कहकर सुमंत्र चरणों में पड़ गए और बालक की तरह रोने लगे।

'सखा, यह समझकर मोह छोड़ो और सीता-रघुवीर के चरणों में प्रेम करो।' राम के गुण कहते-कहते भोर हो गया और जगत का मंगल और सुख करने वाले जागे।
'Friend, knowing this, give up delusion and love the feet of Sītā and Raghubīr.' As he spoke of Rāma's virtues, dawn came, and those who bring joy and good to the world woke.

२2सकल सोच करि राम नहावा। सुचि सुजान बट छीर मगावा ॥अनुज सहित सिर जटा बनाए। देखि सुमंत्र नयन जल छाए ॥

राम ने सब प्रातःकर्म करके स्नान किया, फिर सयाने ने बड़ का दूध मँगवाया। भाई सहित उन्होंने सिर पर जटा बनाई; यह देखकर सुमंत्र की आँखों में आँसू भर आए।

३3हृदयँ दाहु अति बदन मलीना। कह कर जोरि बचन अति दीना ॥नाथ कहेउ अस कोसलनाथा। लै रथु जाहु राम कें साथा ॥

हृदय में बड़ी जलन थी, मुख मलिन था। हाथ जोड़कर बहुत दीनता से वे बोले, 'नाथ, कोसलनाथ ने कहा कि रथ लेकर राम के साथ जाओ।
His heart burned, his face was dull. With folded hands he spoke in great humility: 'Lord, the king of Kosala said, take the chariot and go with Rāma.

४4बनु देखाइ सुरसरि अन्हवाई। आनेहु फेरि बेगि दोउ भाई ॥लखनु रामु सिय आनेहु फेरी। संसय सकल सँकोच निबेरी ॥

'नाथ, राजा ने ऐसा कहा है और मैं भी यही कहता हूँ।' यह कहकर सुमंत्र पाँवों में पड़ गए और बालक की तरह रोने लगे।
