कठिन कुटिलपनु
Guha went on: the palace has many kinds of bedding, pillows and soft quilts, white as milk-foam, where Sītā and Rāma slept at night and put to shame the beauty of Love and Rati. Now those two sleep on a bed of leaves, so tired that they cannot be looked at. Those whom mothers, fathers, family, citizens, friends, servants and maids guarded like life, Rāma the Lord sleeps on the ground. His father is Janaka, known to the world; his father-in-law is Indra's equal; his friend is the king of the Raghus; his wife is Vaidehī, and fate is hostile to none but them. Does the forest suit Sītā and Raghubīr? People say it is deeds that count. And the dohā: Kaikeyī, hard and wicked, did the cruelty that gave Raghunandana and Jānakī pain when it should have been a time of joy.निषाद कहता है कि राजमहल में तरह-तरह के बिछौने, तकिये और दूध-फेन जैसे कोमल गद्दे थे, जहाँ सीता-राम सोते थे और अपनी छवि से रति-कामदेव का गर्व हर लेते थे। वही दोनों आज पत्तों पर सोए हैं, थके हुए, देखे नहीं जाते। जिन्हें माता-पिता, परिवार और नगरवासी प्राणों की तरह सँभालते थे, वही राम आज भूमि पर सोते हैं। पिता जनक, ससुर इन्द्र के मित्र रघुराज, और पति रामचन्द्र, फिर भी सीता भूमि पर सोती हैं। क्या सीता-रघुवीर वन के योग्य हैं? लोग कहते हैं कि कर्म ही प्रधान है। अन्त में कैकेयी की कठिन कुटिलता को दोष दिया गया, जिसने सुख के अवसर पर दुख दिया।

'वहाँ तरह-तरह के कपड़े, तकिये और गद्दे थे, दूध के फेन जैसे कोमल, उजले और सुहावने। वहाँ सीता और राम रात को सोते थे और अपनी छवि से रति और कामदेव के गर्व को हर लेते थे।

जो उन्हें प्राणों की तरह सँभालते थे, उन्हीं स्वामी राम को आज धरती पर सोना पड़ा। जिनके पिता जनक हैं, जिनका प्रभाव जगत में विख्यात है, और ससुर इन्द्र के सखा रघुराज हैं।
who guarded them like life, now lord Rāma sleeps on the ground. His father is Janaka, known to the world for his power; his father-in-law is Indra's friend, the king of the Raghus.

४4रामचंदु पति सो बैदेही। सोवत महि बिधि बाम न केही ॥सिय रघुबीर कि कानन जोगू। करम प्रधान सत्य कह लोगू ॥

और जिनकी पत्नी वैदेही हैं, पति रामचन्द्र हैं, वे भी धरती पर सोते हैं। विधाता किसके प्रतिकूल नहीं हुआ? क्या सीता और रघुवीर वन के योग्य हैं? लोग कहते हैं कि कर्म ही प्रधान है।
And his wife is Vaidehī, and Rāmacandra her husband. Is there anyone fate has not turned against, when she sleeps on the ground? Are Sītā and Raghubīr fit for the forest? People say karma is what matters.'
