काननु कठिन भयंकरु भारी

I too will keep my father's word and soon come back, wise fair-faced one. The days will pass without delay; hear my advice, lovely one. If you insist out of love, my dear, you will suffer in the end. The forest is hard, fearful and heavy: fierce sun, snow, rain and wind. There are kusha grass and thorns on the road, and many pebbles; you would have to walk on foot, without shoes. Your lotus feet are soft and lovely, and the roads are hard to cross, with huge mountains. There are caves, hollows, rivers, streams and drains, deep and untouched, impossible to look on. Bears, tigers, wolves, lions and elephants roar, and hearing it courage flees. You would sleep on the ground, wear bark, and eat roots, fruits and tubers; will you get them always, every day, whenever it is right? मैं भी पिता का वचन प्रमाण करके शीघ्र लौटूँगा, सुमुखी, सयानी। दिन बीतते देर नहीं लगेगी; सुन्दरी, मेरी सीख सुनो। हे बामा, यदि तुम प्रेम के वश हठ करोगी, तो अंत में दुख पाओगी। वन कठिन, भयंकर और भारी है: भीषण धूप, पाला, वर्षा और हवा। मार्ग में कुशा, काँटे और तरह-तरह के कंकड़ हैं; बिना जूतों के पैदल चलना होगा। तुम्हारे चरण-कमल कोमल और सुन्दर हैं और रास्ते दुर्गम और बड़े-बड़े पर्वतों वाले हैं। गुफाएँ, खोह, नदियाँ, नद और नाले अथाह हैं, देखे नहीं जा सकते। रीछ, बाघ, भेड़िये, सिंह और हाथी गरजते हैं, जिन्हें सुनकर धैर्य भाग जाता है। धरती पर सोना, वल्कल पहनना और कंद-फल-मूल खाना होगा; क्या ये सदा, सब दिन मिलेंगे, क्या सब समय हर समय अनुकूल होगा?
