मोरें भरतु रामु दुइ आँखी
He saw ahead of him her great burning anger, like a drawn sword of rage, its hilt her bad mind, its edge her cruelty, sharpened by the hunchback. The king saw it dreadful and hard: would truth take his life? He steadied his chest and spoke gentle words that pleased her. Beloved, why do you speak so wrongly, destroying trust and love? To me Bharata and Rāma are my two eyes; I say it with Śaṅkara as witness. I shall surely send a messenger tomorrow, and when the two brothers hear, they will come quickly. Having chosen a good day, I will give Bharata the kingdom with drums. Rāma has no greed for kingship, and loves Bharata greatly; I was only following the rule that the eldest has the right.राजा ने सामने उसकी भारी जलती हुई क्रोधाग्नि देखी, मानो क्रोध की तलवार खींच ली गई हो। कुबुद्धि उसकी मूठ थी, निष्ठुरता धार, और कूबरी ने उसे सान पर चढ़ाकर बनाया था। राजा ने उसे भयंकर और कठोर देखा: क्या सत्य मेरे प्राण ले लेगा? राजा ने छाती कठोर करके ऐसी विनीत वाणी कही जो उसे सुहाए। प्रिये, तू ऐसी बुरी बात क्यों कहती है, प्रेम और विश्वास को नष्ट करके? मेरे लिए भरत और राम दो आँखें हैं; मैं शंकर को साक्षी करके सच कहता हूँ। कल सवेरे मैं अवश्य दूत भेजूँगा; दोनों भाई सुनते ही शीघ्र आएँगे। शुभ दिन देखकर सब साज सजाकर मैं ढोल बजवाकर भरत को राज्य दूँगा। राम को राज्य का लोभ नहीं है और भरत पर उनका बहुत प्रेम है; मैं केवल बड़े-छोटे का विचार करके नीति निभा रहा था।

मैं सवेरे अवश्य दूत भेजूँगा; दोनों भाई सुनते ही शीघ्र आएँगे। शुभ दिन विचारकर और सब साज सजाकर मैं ढोल बजवाकर भरत को राज्य दूँगा।
I shall certainly send a messenger in the morning, and the two brothers will come quickly on hearing it. Choosing a good day and setting all in order, I shall give Bharata the kingdom with drums.

दोहा ३१दोहा 31लोभु न रामहि राजु कर बहुत भरत पर प्रीति।मैं बड़ छोट बिचारि जियँ करत रहेउँ नृपनीति ॥ ३१ ॥
