Chapter 308·Bharata asks to see Citrakūṭa·Verses 1–
Bharata says that one big wish is in his mind, and in fear and shyness he cannot say it. Rāma tells him to say it, and Bharata, with leave, speaks lovingly: he would like to see Citrakūṭa, its pure places, holy waters and forests, birds, deer, lakes, rivers, streams and hills, and the earth especially marked by Rāma's feet, if Rāma permits. Rāma says to take Atri's order on his head and roam the forest without fear, for by the sage's grace the forest gives blessings and is pure and lovely. Wherever the chief of sages commands, Bharata should keep the holy water on that land. Hearing this, Bharata is glad and bows his head to the sage's lotus feet. The gods, hearing this talk of Rāma and Bharata, the root of all good, praise it and rain flowers.

'One big wish is in my mind, and in fear and shyness it cannot be said.' 'Say it, dear,' said the Lord; having his leave, Bharata spoke in lovely, loving words:
