Bharata says that, in grief, love and a child's way, he came having set Rāma's command aside on his left, and yet the merciful one looked kindly toward him and thought him good in every way. Seeing Rāma's feet he found the root of all good and learned that the master is naturally kind. In a great assembly he saw his own fortune: a big mistake and a master's love. Rāma's mercy and favor to him has been full beyond measure, and Rāma kept his pampering by his own gentle nature. He confesses he has been very bold, leaving reserve before his master and the assembly, and asks to be forgiven for any impertinence or humility in his words, knowing his great distress.
