Kausalyā asks the queen of Mithilā to find a chance with the king and put it to him in her own way: let Lakṣmaṇa be kept back and Bharata go to the forest; if the king's mind accepts this, then try it with care. She is deeply worried about Bharata; his love is hidden in his heart and his staying at home does not seem good to her. Seeing her nature and hearing her simple words, all the queens sink into pity. Flowers fall from the sky with cries of blessing, and siddhas, yogis and sages are slack with love. When the whole women's quarter is stunned, Sumitrā steadies herself and says two watches of the night have passed. Hearing this, Rāma's mother tells them to go quickly to their camp, for now their only help is God or the lord of Mithilā.
